On January 20, 1996, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, a normally quiet
day in the town of Varginha made history with the capture of two non-human
entities: one in the morning around 10:30 and the other later in the day.
The Varginha incident was described by the President of INFA as "certainly
the most extraordinary thing we have ever heard about .... It was a real
complex operation involving military personnel as well as civilians and
resulted in the capture of unidentified biological creatures". John
Carpenter, our guest for the evening, attended a conference in Brazil where
this incident was investigated; he will be presenting the findings.
Australia is no stranger to sightings, contacts and abductions. This past
year has seen an amazing amount of activity 'down under'. Slides and video
interviews with abductees will highlight the documented evidence of the
'flap' taking place there.
Contacts and abductions by non-human entities have occurred for thousands
of years, as evidenced in the writings of the earliest folklore, Biblical
accounts, Medieval records, etc. This information will be presented with
numerous slides.

John Carpenter obtained a B.A. in Psychology from DePaul University, a
Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, and was
trained in Clinical Hypnosis at the Menninger Clinic in 1980. He now works
for the Center for Neuropsychiatry in Springfield, Missouri as a licensed
clinical social worker. For over 30 years, he has studied credible
accounts of UFOs and abductions, and is presently serving as the National
Director of Abduction Research for the Mutual UFO Network, an
international civilian research organization. He has presented his
findings at conferences (including M.I.T., 1992), on radio and television,
and in national and international film documentaries. He is a recognized
authority on the abduction phenomenon in the U.S., as well as in Japan,
