ALBERTO GIACOMETTI AS SEEN BY PHOTOGRAPHERS

In parallel with the retrospective dedicated to the Swiss artist at the Kunsthalle Wien on Karlsplatz, the show in Hall F of the Museumsquartier will focus on presenting selected photographs of Giacometti the individual. There is hardly another artist of whom there exist equally moving pictures showing the creative man and his immediate surroundings - such as the studio that remained almost unchanged over decades. The photographs, whether carefully arranged, meant to be artworks in their own right or snapshots, are never superficially voyeuristic, they always open up more detailed views of the artist who never ceased to seek a distant utopian goal all his life.

Photographs on show will i.a. include works by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Man Ray, Ernst Scheidegger.

An exhibition organized in co-operation with the Schweizerische Stiftung für die Photographie.

Opening hours: daily, except Tuesday, 10 am–6 pm, Thursday 10 am–8 pm.
